USTC Alumni Reception in AGU Fall Meeting
A USTC alumni reception was successfully held by the School of Earth and Space Sciences (SESS) of USTC during the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall meeting at Hotel Grand Hyatt in San Francisco on Dec. 6th . It was attended by over 150 USTC alumni and friends worldwide, who renewed friendship and shared academic experience.

Dean of SESS, Prof. CHEN Xiaofei, introduced SESS, and then the School's new researcher recruitment program and future plans. CHEN invited alumni and friends to visit USTC and encouraged them to apply for the opening academic positions. Prof. LU Quanming, Director of the newly established Department of the Geophysics and Planetary Sciences, gave a presentation of this new department.The "Thousand Talents Program" Professor, Dr. WEN Lianxing, talked about his research group and research plans in USTC.

The attendents enjoyed the get-together. They said that it was great to hear the latest news from USTC and to know the new recruitment program.
The annual USTC alumni reception in AGU Fall meeting has been hosted by SESS since 2009. Its major purpose is to strengthen USTC-alumni connection and recruit world-level researchers. The reception received help from many alumni , such as Dr. WANG Yuming and Dr. JIA Xianzhe in 9507 class and CAO Hao, WAG Chunpeng, DING Ming, LI Shuning, HE Yuxin, CHEN Weiwenand XIE Jun in 0507class.
As the biggest annual academic conference in Geoscience, AGU Fall meeting 2011 was attended by 21,000 researchers and students, among whom 23 came from USTC .
